Biography:

Junko Koeda is a Member of the Policy Board of the Bank of Japan, serving a term from March 2025 to 2030. In this role, she contributes to the formulation and oversight of monetary policy aimed at achieving the Bank’s price stability goal and ensuring smooth settlement and stability of the financial system. Prior to her appointment, she was a professor at Waseda University. She has also served as Chief Economist at the Policy Research Institute of the Ministry of Finance and as a staff economist at the International Monetary Fund.

Her expertise lies in macroeconomics and finance, with a focus on monetary policy frameworks and their effects on economic outcomes, as well as price formation in the Japanese government securities market. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics from UCLA and a bachelor's degree from the University of Tokyo.
