How do you lead and make an impact when you don’t have formal authority? Based upon your feedback from our fall workshop “Harnessing Your Personal Influence as a Student Leader,” join us for a special pilot workshop that dives deeper into how to effectively lead, influence, and navigate complex situations—even when you don’t have the authority to enforce decisions.
As part of the Leadership Development Series under the auspices of The Reuben Mark Initiative for Organizational Character and Leadership, this interactive workshop will be facilitated by Mike White, PhD Candidate in Organizational Behavior and former Head TA of LEAD, and will feature hands-on exercises, real-world case studies, and actionable strategies designed to elevate your leadership skills in high-stakes environments.
This workshop is open to all students who partook in the fall workshop and/or members of the Student Leadership and Ethics Board. All participants will be asked to provide us with feedback as we look to understand if we are meeting the key needs of our student leaders with our series of workshops.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Avoid common influence pitfalls – Sidestep the key mistakes leaders often make when trying to build credibility and make an impact.
- Unlock your sources of influence – Discover how to leverage position, perspective, and people to maximize your leadership impact.
- Master the confidence to lead – Gain a proven framework and practical strategies to assert influence and drive change, even in challenging situations.
Attending this workshop will provide credit towards the Phillips Pathway for Inclusive Leadership (PPIL), focusing on the DEI essential skill of mitigating bias and prejudice.
