Residential development sits at the center of the global climate challenge: buildings account for 30-40% of global carbon emissions. Over the next 2-3 years, financing and accelerating the decarbonization of both new and existing assets presents an opportunity for our community. Given state/city policy targets, investor expectations and customer demand, we have a unique opportunity to significantly scale decarbonized assets. Our experts will provide a lively discussion on decarbonizing built environments from several perspectives: Developer, Policy, Financing and Consultative. They will share their perspectives on how more developers can get preferential insurance and financing by building more net zero buildings.
Dan McGee from Redbrick will share his successes and pitfalls to help accelerate more net zero builds and adoption. David Davenport brings a lifetime of experience from the developer, financing and policy side and we will hear about his experiences managing through ‘carrots and sticks’. Shanta Tucker will relay how she works with developers and large institutional companies to masterplan for and achieve their net zero goals.
The panel will be moderated by Professor Stijn Van Nieuwerburgh, Earle W. Kazis and Benjamin Schore Professor of Real Estate and Professor of Finance at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business.
Sushi, snacks, wine, and other beverages will be provided.
